Adult ADHD and me

Lawrence KerrOne early July night in 2023, I realized something was wrong. “Do I have ADHD?” I searched the internet. The symptoms sounded like me- creativity, hyperfocus, chattiness, blurting things out, working well under deadlines, staying calm under pressure,… I always thought these were my quirks.

Over the next few weeks, as I was moving into my home, treating a torn shoulder, going through other medical tests, it seemed that other ADHD symptoms got “louder” and “stronger”— missing or forgetting appointments, arriving late even though I wrote the times down, losing things, and feeling tired A LOT of the time.

By August, while editing the final draft of one of my books, which is based on a childhood experience, I realized that my main character seemed to have ADHD too. Months later, I decided to get psychological testing which gave me a diagnosis- severe combined ADHD.

Since then, I’ve been learned so much about ADHD. I see ADHD as a superpower
